Government College Balrampur, was established in a school building in the year 2008 and started in a school building with Arts, Commerce and Science faculties. The college is affiliated to Sant Gahira Guru University, Sarguja, Ambikapur Chhattisgarh. Our college shifted to its own present campus in the year 2013. Since then, it has beenmaking strides in terms of academic and infrastructural up-gradation which has enabled it to emerge as a fore-runner in Education in the rural and economical backward region in district headquarter Balrampur, which is one of the districts of Chhattisgarh, surrounded by natural beauty and rich in the bio-diversity and dense forest.
The college offers study centre for Doctorate Program in Hindi in the faculty of Arts, Post-Graduation in Hindi and Chemistry (CBCS) four semesters and Under Graduate programs like B.A., B.Sc. and B.Com. in many as 05 subject combinations in Humanities and 06 in Science can be opted by a students. The College offers Pt. Sundarlal Sharma Open University Bilaspur Degree Courses and Certificate Courses through distant mode.
Making a humble beginning with 115 students and 01 faculty members, today it has more than 700 students. A team of 15 dedicated and well qualified faculty members facilitate effectual teaching and contribute in shaping the Next-gen. The college has 06 Assistant Professors and 09 Guest Lecturers which include 03Ph.D. and 02 M.Phil. Degree holders. More than 09 non-teaching members provide assistance in the better functioning of the college.
The college has a well-equipped library with a compendium of 7329 books, equipped with INFLIBNET, computer and internet facilities; canteen, cycle-stand, Cultural Program Stage, Oxy-Reading Zone, full of greenery in the campus and zero power cut area with the help of a house 05 kWP SPV Power Plant, a vision project ofthe Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency Raipur with a provision of 16 SPV panels, was dedicated to the college by Balrampur District Administration.
To impart holistic training, the college undertakes extension activities through one unit of N.S.S., one unit of NCC (Army Wing), various societies and departmental activities. Various societies such as Rd Ribbon Club, Community Hygiene and Sanitation, Cultural and Heritage, Environment, Gender Equity and Women Empowerment, Literary, Go Green and Eco club that aids the students to sensitize about major personal, social and health issues.
The departmental activities all provide the students a platform to hone their potential and capabilities and the college magazine “BIHAN”, the first issue is presumed to be come out till December, 2019. The college Anti-Ragging Committee, Help Desk, and Anti-Sexual Harassment committee function in tandem with various departments to facilitate students. They work tirelessly as facilitators to enable a students to explore their creativity and potential learn the value of hard work and achieve excellence.
The college motto ‘‘सर्वेषां श्रेयसे विद्या ’’, with a literal translation of “KNOWLEDGE IS SUPREME’’, is the guiding principle behind our endeavor to strive, excel and achieve distinction. The college aims at providing a conducive environment to augment holistic growth, and personal development ofthe students and to provide them a platform to blossom into responsible and confident young students who can live a life of dignity and make meaningful contribution to society.
